Pro-war Russian telegram channels published a photo of what appears to be a North Korean artillery system in Russia.
In the photograph you can see a 170mm self-propelled artillery mount installed on a railway platform, which is non-standard for the Russian army. The system is known as M1989 or M1978 “Koksan” made in North Korea.
The date and location of the shooting are unknown. Previously, there were no reports of deliveries of North Korean artillery to Russia.
M1989 is the DPRK’s own development. The installations are known for their low charging speed (one or two rounds per minute) and a firing range of 40 to 60 kilometers, depending on the type of projectile. The only combat use of this weapon was recorded during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, this was by Iran.
