Dmitry Peskov refused to single out one issue as a priority for Donald Trump, as there are many “irritants”.
Russian authorities have not yet had contacts with the US presidential administration, but the agenda of potentially pressing issues for discussion is large. Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov said this at a briefing on Thursday, November 14.
“It’s too early to talk about hope. There are no contacts yet,” he told reporters.
So, Peskov answered the question of whether there is hope that with the arrival of Donald Trump as president, US visa restrictions for Russians working at the UN will be lifted.
“This is not the only issue that can be raised on the American side. The agenda of vexing issues is so large that it would be wrong to single out one issue as a priority,” added the press secretary.
In addition, Peskov was asked whether the Kremlin is monitoring the process of forming the Trump administration.
“We’re certainly watching it, but believe me, it’s not our top priority,” he said.
Earlier, the Washington Post, citing its own sources, reported that Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone last Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine. The publication says that Kyiv was informed about this conversation and did not object to what happened.
In turn, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry denied that it knew about the conversation between Trump and Putin.
And the Kremlin generally denied information about the conversation between Trump and Putin. Information about their negotiations is “pure fiction,” said Dmitry Peskov.
