The Belgrade official must support restrictions against the two aggressor countries in order to continue its path towards European unification.
Serbia’s European integration is impossible without the adoption of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. This was reported by the Balkan Observer publication on Wednesday, July 6th.
The European Parliament states that they generally support the country’s membership in the EU.
“MEPs by a overwhelming majority adopted a resolution expressing support for Serbia’s membership in the EU, but the Belgrade official also called for the immediate imposition of sanctions imposed by the European Parliament against Russia. and Belarus, and defined it as one of the conditions for Serbia’s further advancement on the path of European integration ”, the message said.
Another condition for Serbia’s entry into the union was the recognition of Kosovo.
The resolution states: “Serbia and Kosovo are expected to sign a legally binding agreement to normalize relations on the basis of mutual recognition.”
Note that this is the first time “mutual recognition” has been mentioned in an official EU document.
As previously reported, Serbia refused to recognize Kosovo to join the European Union.
However, Vučić had previously called on the EU as a strategic path for Serbia. According to him, without investment in Europe and a political and legal environment, Serbia will not achieve anything.
