The European Union will provide Ukraine with the promised million artillery shells by the end of this year.
EU countries were unable to deliver the promised million shells by the spring of 2024, but have already delivered more than 980 thousand artillery shells. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated this in an interview with European Pravda.
We’re almost there. We have already delivered more than 980 thousand. shells and very soon we will hand over 1 million shells. I know that we made a commitment to reach this level before the spring and failed. But we will be able to do it by the end of the year. And for this we have accelerated significantly,” he noted.
According to the head of European diplomacy, many more ammunition were supplied to Ukraine on the Czech initiative and under bilateral agreements with European countries.
Borrell noted that by the end of the year the EU should supply more than 1.5 million ammunition to Ukraine.
Let us recall that in October Ukraine received ammunition that was donated by citizens of Slovakia. The Slovaks were able to donate 4 million euros, for which they bought 122 tons of ammunition.
