Now many countries are waiting for a renewal of the US administration, and hope that Trump will “make the changes” he promised when he said he would end the Russian war in Ukraine within 24 hours.
Donald Trump, who won the US election, may try to negotiate with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. But such an agreement is unlikely to be in the interest of Europe and Ukraine. This was said on Friday by Czech President Petr Pavel in a speech at the opening of the IISS Prague Defense Summit conference in Prague, Aktuality.sk reports.
The Czech leader added that the Russian Federation is now having some success on the front, as the West has been slow to provide aid to Kyiv for so long.
“From the beginning, we did not do enough – and I am proud that they include the Czech Republic – to give Ukraine everything it needs and what we can give it slowly, and I honestly say that the delay allows Russia to advance on Ukrainian territory,” he said.
According to Pavel, Western supplies of military equipment and financial aid are not enough for the success of Ukraine.
The Czech president added that the situation at the front is now developing in favor of Russia, which “does not stimulate negotiations.”
Pavel said that many countries are now waiting for the renewal of the US administration, and hope that Trump will “implement the changes” he promised when he said he would end the Russian war in Ukraine within 24 hours.
Pavel suggested that Trump will try to reach an agreement with Putin, but, according to the Czech leader, such an agreement is “probably not in the interests of Ukraine or Europe, because it probably includes the transfer of part of the occupied territory. of Ukraine to Russia or the condition for Ukraine that it will not become a member of NATO for at least 20 years.”
Pavel added that any peace agreement, even if it “results in temporary concessions of some territories to Russia in order to achieve a diplomatic solution in the future,” must be concluded with several parties, including China, India, as well as Europe too.
Let’s recall that the Financial Times previously reported that Russia and Ukraine allegedly “started preliminary negotiations” through Qatar, aimed at “stopping the attack on the energy infrastructure of both countries.” Then the Office of the President called it disinformation.
