On November 8, Ukraine terminated the air services agreement with Iran.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine terminated the air services agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The corresponding agreement between Kyiv and Tehran was concluded on July 9, 1993. The representative of the Ukrainian government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk reported this on Telegram.
Flights from Ukraine to Iran were suspended back in 2020. Then the Iranian military shot down a Ukraine International Airlines passenger plane with two missiles as it took off from Tehran.
The plane crash killed 167 passengers and nine crew members. Among them were citizens of Ukraine. The aircraft accident itself was included in the list of the 50 greatest disasters in history.
Now in Ukraine during the war, any air traffic is prohibited.
As you know, Iran is helping Russia in a full-scale war against Ukraine. In particular, the Iranian side provided the aggressor country with a large number of Shahed-type kamikaze drones and other weapons.
Let us recall that in September the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that Ukraine was considering the possibility of severing diplomatic relations with Iran due to the supply of ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation.
