A citizen of the Nikolaev region received a fine for firewood.
Near the village of Ukrainka, government inspectors stopped a local resident who was transporting firewood in the trunk of a car. The man was fined 510 UAH because he did not have documents for firewood confirming the legality of purchasing the wood. The State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western District reported this on Facebook on November 7.
For violation of environmental legislation, a citizen is brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 65 Code of Administrative Offenses and fined 510 UAH,” the message says.
The inspectorate also published photos of illegal firewood transported by a peasant.
Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada adopted law No. 9665, providing for fines for firewood. For example, if the cost of wood is estimated at more than 30 thousand UAH, then the fine can be from 34 thousand to 51 thousand UAH or restriction of freedom for up to three years. If this cost is more than 90 thousand UAH, then the fine will range from 170 thousand to 425 thousand UAH. or imprisonment from five to seven years.
This law caused strong indignation among Ukrainians. Subsequently, the speaker of Servant of the People, Yulia Paliychuk, stated that this law is not directed against the population using firewood to heat their own homes.
The presidential office said that Vladimir Zelensky will not sign the “firewood law.” But the president will also not be able to veto, because “for technical reasons the time for a veto has passed.”
