The collapse of the coalition government in Germany will not stop the provision of assistance to Ukraine from this country.
In 2025, Berlin will continue to provide assistance to Kyiv. Germany will be able to allocate most of the 4 billion euros promised to Ukraine, even if the budget for 2025 is not adopted on time. This money is essentially an earmarked appropriation so it can be allocated as part of interim budget management if the budget is not passed. This was reported by Reuters.
It is noted that the expected delay in the 2025 budget may mean no spending on new projects. However, a decision on the application of aid to Ukraine may still be made.
The launch of new financing programs will require a decision by the budget committee or the Bundestag… There are therefore certain restrictions on new programs, but everything that is already in place can continue as planned, said Economy Minister Robert Habeck.
Let us remind you that in Germany there is a crisis in the coalition government consisting of the Social Democrats (SPD), the Green Party and the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has fired German Finance Minister Christian Lindner. After this, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed, as the Free Democratic Party decided to leave the coalition following Lindner.
