The Taliban, which controls power in Afghanistan, hopes to reset relations with the United States after Donald Trump wins the presidential election.
The radical Taliban group said it was looking forward to a “new chapter in relations” with the United States after Republican Donald Trump won the presidential election. CNN reported this on Wednesday, November 6.
“We hope that the new US administration will take a pragmatic approach to bilateral relations so that the two countries can open a new chapter of relations,” said Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi.
Balkhi added that the Doha Agreement, signed in 2020 between the Taliban and the US during the first Trump administration, ended what he called “twenty years of occupation” by the US in Afghanistan.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman also called on Trump to take a “constructive role in ending the current conflicts” in the Middle East.
In 2021, the United States ends its 20-year mission in Afghanistan. After this, the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan for a short time.
It was previously reported that the Taliban regime is relying on Russia’s help in organizing Afghanistan’s air defense. In particular, the Taliban are looking forward to Russian military technology.
The current Vice President of the US and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris spoke to the American people for the first time after announcing the results of the primary election. He considered defeat in his speech.
