Zelensky will not sign the law on fines for storing firewood, his adviser said.
President Vladimir Zelensky will not sign the law on increasing liability for illegal handling of wood, dubbed the firewood law. This is what presidential adviser Dmitry Litvin said, the BBC reported on Tuesday, November 5.
“The President will not sign this law,” said the adviser to the head of state. He did not specify the reasons.
Lytvyn also noted that the period allotted for vetoing the law has expired.
Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 9665, which provides increased liability for the storage, transportation or sale of firewood without documents about its origin.
If the value of stored wood exceeds 30 thousand hryvnias, the violator faces criminal liability with imprisonment for five to seven years.
If the value of the wood is less than 30 thousand hryvnias, then an administrative fine of 34 thousand hryvnias is given.
As you know, the Cabinet of Ministers has authorized the free collection of firewood in the forests of the frontier territories.
