The Minister of Civil Security of Sweden, together with the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, signed a statement of intent to develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of security.
Swedish Minister of Civil Defense Karl-Oskar Bohlin announced new aid to Ukraine worth around 9 million euros. The package includes two Swedish Coast Guard ships to improve maritime security and around 40,000 respirator masks to protect civilians. This was discussed at a joint briefing with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klimenko, held in Kyiv on Tuesday, November 5.
According to Bolin, this visit confirms Sweden’s readiness to continue supporting Ukraine. He noted that together with Klimenko they signed a statement of intent to develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of security.
As Bolin clarified, the first aid package provides for the provision of two patrol vessels with all the necessary equipment to improve maritime security. The second package is 40 thousand respirator masks to protect the civilian population.
In this regard, Klimenko emphasized that cooperation with Sweden began at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression, and now continues to develop both through practical assistance and political support for Ukraine on the path to EU membership. and NATO.
We remind you that the day before the Swedish government agreed to provide Ukraine with a new package of humanitarian aid in the amount of 110 million kroner ($10.4 million). The funds are used to meet more needs before the winter season.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky thanked Sweden for the decision to provide our state with a military aid package worth more than $445 million.
