In Moldova today, November 3, the second round of presidential elections took place, in which the current pro-European President Maia Sandu and the pro-Russian candidate, former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo took part.
The turnout in the elections was 54%, reports the publication Ziarul de Gardă.
Polling stations in the country closed at 21:00. Sites in other countries close at 21:00 local time.
The counting of votes has already begun. Thus, according to the Central Election Commission, the Moldovan diaspora set a record for participation in elections – 300 thousand people voted at polling stations abroad.
In particular, there were not enough ballots in Abu Dhabi, where there were only 500 of them. As a result, in this polling station Sandu received 430 votes, her opponent – 68.
Currently, calculations show that Sandu is winning for the most part in foreign sectors. In particular, at a polling station in India, no one voted for her opponent.
The CEC will announce the first preliminary official results after 22.00.
