Europe is now on the brink of a highly unstable situation due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The European Union should create its own security organization in addition to NATO, said the head of the European Parliament, Roberta Mezolla. He mentioned this in an interview with elMundo.
Mezola stressed that the European Union must always be stronger, more consistent and more effective.
“I say the same thing when we talk about creating a real security and defense union. A union that we have been asking for for a long time, which will complement NATO and not compete with the alliance,” he explained.

Mezola added that the EU should be ready for anything, regardless of the US presidential election.
Earlier at the UN Security Council, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the Russian Federation is ready to fight with all of NATO.
While NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte responded to the overflights of Russian drones and missiles in Romania during the attack on Ukraine and called for a response to such incidents.
