Scientists, combining mid-infrared light from the James Webb Space Telescope and visible and ultraviolet light from the Hubble Space Telescope, obtained an “eerie” image of “evil eyes” “looking” at the Earth from space.
This was reported by the press service of the European Space Agency (ESA).
The image shows a pair of spiral galaxies – IC 2163 (smaller spiral galaxy on the left) and NGC 2207 (larger galaxy on the right). About a million years ago they passed each other.
Both have increased star formation rates. In total, they are estimated to form the equivalent of two dozen new stars the size of the Sun every year. Our Milky Way galaxy produces the equivalent of two to three new Sun-like stars per year, ESA notes.
NASA for the first time received a detailed image of the “Pillars of Creation,” which are located 6.5-7 thousand light years from the solar system
