Veterans and people with disabilities will be involved in demining territories in Ukraine.
The Department of Defense will promote equal access to mine action work. In particular, they will increase the involvement of women, veterans, people with disabilities and victims of explosive ordnance. The UN is implementing a program for the employment of people with disabilities, including war veterans, in Ukraine. The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported this on November 2.
It is noted that as part of this project, the first four Ukrainians injured by explosive objects received work in the international organization The HALO Trust. They will analyze satellite and drone imagery to detect and map mine-contaminated areas.
Ukrainians received a job offer a month after completing the relevant course involving persons with disabilities in employment in mine action, the defense department noted.
Let us remind you that the Main Directorate of Mine Action stated that as of October 1, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, 1 thousand 41 people were injured due to enemy mines and explosive remnants of war – of which 99 children and 942 adults.
