In total, 181 people expressed their desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 60 Czechs received permits.
A group of Czech citizens received permission from President Peter Pavel to join the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and fight against the Russian invaders. Czech Radio reported this on Saturday, November 2, citing Presidential Press Secretary Philip Platos.
It was noted that a total of 181 people expressed their desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 60 of them received a permit. Before requests from citizens are received by the president, they are reviewed by the ministries of defense, internal affairs and foreign affairs.
Czech law prohibits citizens of the country from participating in foreign military formations without special permission from the head of state.
In December 2023, it was found that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 553 Czechs have joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but only 151 of them have permission to fight abroad. However, it is not yet possible to establish the exact number of Czechs fighting on the side of Ukraine.
We remind you that today the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky spoke about a meeting with a delegation of the Czech Armed Forces headed by the Chief of the General Staff.
It was also reported today that a volunteer from Taiwan died in the war in Ukraine.
