Czech President Petr Pavel allowed several dozen citizens of the country to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
More than 180 Czechs submitted requests to the Czech president for permission to join the Ukrainian army. It is known that President Pavel allowed 60 citizens of the country to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of the Czech Republic, Philip Platos, Český rozhlas reported.
At the same time, the representative admitted that in fact it is not clear how many Czechs went to Ukraine to fight in the war, because some did it without permission.
As is known, Czech laws prohibit citizens from participating in military or paramilitary formations abroad without the permission of the country’s president. But in March 2022, Czech Prime Minister Peter Fiala announced that there would be no punishment for citizens who join the Ukrainians in the fight against the Russian Federation.
Let us recall that in May, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipovsky said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive from 50 to 100 thousand large-caliber shells per month from June. This is ammunition that will be purchased as part of the Czech initiative.
