At the occupied Zaporizhia NPP, a water leak occurred in one of the reactors.
On October 29, the IAEA received information about a water leak in the coolant system of one of the reactors at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. After assessing the situation, experts began repair work. The International Atomic Energy Agency announced this on November 1.
Experts are now conducting radiographic inspections of the welds to ensure their reliability.
The IAEA Director General stressed that the agency will continue to closely monitor this issue, but there are no immediate nuclear safety issues at this time.
As you know, Zaporozhye NPP is located near Energodar in the Zaporozhye region and is the largest nuclear energy facility in Europe. The Russian army occupied Atomka in 2022. The invaders use the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP as a location, which increases the risk of radiation accidents.
Let us remind you that on August 11, the Russians set fire to a large number of car tires in the cooling tower of the Zaporizhia NPP. This was probably a provocation or an attempt to create panic in populated areas on the right bank of the former reservoir.
Subsequently, the IAEA stated that their specialists were unable to draw final conclusions based on the data received and observations on the fire at the Zaporizhia NPP.
