Due to heavy rain and strong winds, 12 flights due to land at Valencia airport were diverted to other cities and a further ten flights were cancelled.
In Spain, around ten people are missing after rains caused flash floods in the south and east of the country. The Guardian writes about this on Tuesday, October 29.
The floods affected a large part of the Spanish territory, stretching from the province of Malaga in the south to Valencia in the east. Floodwaters swept through the town of Letur in the eastern province of Albacete, carrying cars through the streets.
Not far from Malaga, a high-speed train with about 300 people on board derailed due to bad weather. Authorities said no one was injured but high-speed rail services between Valencia and Madrid were disrupted.
According to local authorities, six people are missing in the central region of Castilla-La Mancha, and in Valencia they are looking for a truck driver who disappeared during the disaster. However, authorities suggest there may be more missing people.

Spanish police and rescue workers used helicopters to evacuate people from homes and cars at risk of flooding, while the army joined the rescue operation.
According to forecasts from the National Meteorological Service, bad weather in Spain will last until Thursday, October 31. The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has declared a red alert for the region of Valencia and a high alert for parts of Andalusia .
