Ukraine has its own plan to strengthen domestic resilience, and also hopes for continued bipartisan support from Congress.
President Vladimir Zelensky said he did not hear US presidential candidate Donald Trump express his intention to reduce support for Ukraine if he wins the election. The head of state said this at a press conference at the Ukraine-Northern Europe summit in Reykjavik on Monday, October 28.
At the same time, Zelensky admitted that there are such risks, and that Ukraine has an internal strengthening plan.
“I have not heard that Trump announced the termination of this support. We do not know what will happen in the future.
He added that it is not known who will be the next US president, but Ukraine expects continued bilateral support from Congress.
According to the president, the failure to support Ukraine will be considered a victory for Putin and “a great loss for the West, democracy and freedom.”
“I’m not sure that Trump, if he becomes president of the United States, wants to disappear, in the sense of stopping support for Ukraine. However, I agree that there are risks. Therefore, Ukraine has its own plan to strengthen internal stability,” he noted.
Let’s remember that on Monday it was reported that Trump formulated a plan to end the war in Ukraine. He suggests that “Ukraine does not join NATO” and that Putin is “being put under economic pressure.”
