“Kazakhstan wants to continue and build new stable relations with the countries of the European Union.”
Kazakhstan President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev spoke on the phone with European Council President Charles Michel. At the same time, the parties stressed the importance of fulfilling the agreements reached in 2021. This was announced on Monday, July 4, by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
During the talks, Tokayev stressed that the EU, and not Russia, is Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner. He also added that Kazakhstan does not want to stop being the first country in Central Asia to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union, but wants to continue and build new sustainable relations with the EU.
According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan is also ready to help its energy resources to stabilize the situation in the global energy market.
“Tokayev adheres to the same position in solving the problem of the food crisis,” the statement said.
Recall that Tokayev called the quasi-states “LDNR” and refused to recognize them.
As you know, after the Russian Federation’s massive invasion of Ukraine, Kazakhstan declared that it was neutral in this war.
