Ukraine will switch to winter time on the night of October 26-27.
At 4.00 the clock hands need to be moved back an hour, that is, for three nights. Devices with automatic time setting (smartphones and computers) will do this on their own. The system of changing clocks between winter and summer time is regulated by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 13, 1996.
As you know, in Ukraine the clocks are changed twice every year – on the last Sunday in March in the summer and on the last Sunday in October in winter time. This year, Ukraine switched to summer time on March 31.
Officially, the change to winter and summer time in Ukraine was introduced in 1981. Officials explained this by the need to save energy and the opportunity to use daylight hours more efficiently.
Let us remind you that in 2024 the winter time change for Ukrainians should be the last. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the corresponding bill on July 16, 2024. Ukraine should have stayed on winter time.
This draft law was sent to Zelensky for signature back in August. However, the head of state has not yet agreed on the bill. An anonymous source from the president’s team claims that there will never be a signature on this law, and the deadline for vetoing it has already expired.
