We are talking about the heads of the Zaporozhye, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkov, Cherkasy regional prosecutor’s offices and the specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Southern region.
Five heads of regional prosecutor’s offices and the head of one of the specialized prosecutor’s offices in the field of defense wrote letters of resignation from their positions. It was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin, we are talking about the heads of Zaporozhye, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkov, Cherkassy regional prosecutor’s offices and the specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Southern region. All of them received a higher long-term pension, which was assigned by a court decision.
An internal investigation into the legality of prosecutors obtaining the status of a disabled person and the collection of pension payments to prosecutors is also ongoing.
Kostin said that today the first meeting of the independent Commission was held for the selection of candidates for inclusion in the reserve staff for leadership positions in regional and district prosecutors’ offices.
“I initiated the creation of this commission to increase the transparency of the appointment process for such positions the qualities and reputation of the candidates,” said the Prosecutor General.
The Council of Prosecutors also supported the amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Prosecutor’s Office”. These changes will help make it impossible for prosecutors to receive pensions alongside their salaries. Payment of pensions for length of service to prosecutors will be made only after their dismissal.
It was previously reported that Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin decided to resign from his position amid scandals related to abuses in the field of disability registration for prosecutors.
We remind you that Kostin ordered an internal audit to disseminate information about the reception of disabled groups by 50 prosecutors of the Khmelnitsky Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
