A year ago, 21% of respondents believed that negotiations with Russia “are an effective way to achieve peace, which should be used now,” and 63% disagreed with this.
Over the past year, the number of supporters of peace negotiations with Russia among Ukrainians has increased. This is confirmed by survey data from the Razumkov Center.
It was noted that a year ago, 21% of respondents believed that negotiations with Russia were “an effective way to achieve peace, which should be used now,” and 63% disagreed with it.
In September 2024, the share of those who thought increased to 35%, although a relative majority (48%) disagreed.
There are also more people who agree with the statement that “negotiations with Russia should be held only after its troops are pushed to the line of confrontation on February 23, 2022.” Their share increased from 25% to 37%. At the same time, the share of those who disagree with it decreased from 61% to 41%.
There was a decrease in those who believed that “negotiations with Russia should be carried out only after the expulsion (withdrawal) of its troops from the borders in 1991” (their share decreased from 61% to 49%; 24% and 29% disagree, respectively).
The survey was conducted among respondents in 2016 from September 20 to 26, 2024 using the face-to-face method in all regions of Ukraine, except temporarily occupied and territories where hostilities continue.
Let’s remember that in September, 83% of the surveyed Ukrainians believe in the victory of the war with Russia, which is slightly higher than in June (80%).
It was also reported that 58% of Ukrainians support the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Russia’s Kursk region.
