Sudanese separatists mistakenly shot down an Il-76 cargo plane from the UAE, the crew of which was partly Russian.
This was reported by the Russian Telegram channel Astra.
It is noted that the destruction of the plane was reported by the Sudan War Monitor portal, which monitors the military situation in the country.
It is alleged that the Il-76 was shot down in the Malkha area in North Darfur. It was shot down by RSF separatist fighters, to whom the supplies were intended. According to one version, there were weapons on board.
The exact number of casualties and deaths is unknown, but usually the IL-76 crew consists of five people. Thus, one of the videos filmed at the scene of the accident shows the found documents of one of the crew members, engineer Viktor Granov. A Russian passport belonging to Anton Selivanov was also found.
The Russian Embassy in Sudan confirmed that the plane with Russians on board crashed in battle-torn Darfur, noting that the circumstances are now being clarified.
Conflicting reports have appeared online that one of the Russian military companies is operating in Sudan. It is reported that this is probably not the Wagner anti-aircraft missile system, but it is not yet known exactly.
