Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, Territorial Defense, border guards and police returned home. Among them are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, Donetsk region, Luhansk region, Kharkov region, Kiev region, Chernihiv region and Kherson region. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on Telegram.
Verkhovna Rada Commissioner Dmitry Lubinets informed that since the beginning of a full-scale war, 3,767 Ukrainians have been returned from Russian captivity. The 58th exchange took place late yesterday evening. The Ombudsman emphasized that all Ukrainians need physical and psychological rehabilitation.
The exchange of prisoners with Russia took place through the mediation of the United Arab Emirates.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners reported that the peculiarity of this exchange is that many Ukrainians who received so-called sentences from the Russian judicial system and were convicted returned home. The infidels sentenced 28 people to long terms and 20 people to life imprisonment.
Let us remind you that as part of a prisoner exchange with Russia, Ukrainian human rights activist, journalist and soldier Maxim Butkevich returned home. In 2023, the so-called supreme courts of the terrorist LPR and DPR sentenced him to 13 years in prison.
