The Ministry will have the authority to develop and implement strategic decisions in the field of demography.
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy supported the bill on the creation of the Ministry of Demography and Diaspora of Ukraine. Deputy Evgenia Kravchuk reported this on Wednesday, October 16, in a comment to Suspilna.
The People’s Deputy indicated that they took a document from a group of authors as a basis, but also considered an alternative. Next, the bill needs to be finalized.
“This is support for the idea of President Zelensky, the creation of a separate ministry that will deal with Ukrainians who are now abroad and who we want to return, that is, it is really a ministry of the diaspora,” pointed out by Kravchuk. .
Kravchuk noted that 6 million of our citizens now live abroad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot fully deal with their affairs alone.
It is known that the proposed mechanisms for financing the programs of the Ministry and the Fund will include the use of both the state budget and international grants, making the implementation of initiatives more flexible and large-scale.
The bill supported by the committee provides for the creation of the Ministry of Demography and Diaspora of Ukraine three months after the publication of the law and the Fund for the Restoration of the Demographic Potential of Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy for Demographic Development of Ukraine until 2040.
Over the past 12 months, more than 20 thousand Ukrainian citizens have left Russian-occupied Crimea. The people preferred to seek a better fortune for themselves outside the peninsula.
