Charges against 34 Russian military personnel have been sent to court, and five have received sentences. All procedures take place in absentia – in the absence of the accused.
Suspicion of 55 Russian military personnel has been reported for sexual violence committed in Ukraine. This was announced by the head of the Coordination Center for Support of Victims and Witnesses of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Veronika Plotnikova, in a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
According to him, cases against 34 military personnel of the Russian Federation have been sent to court, and five have received sentences.
Plotnikova added that all these procedures take place in absentia, in the absence of the accused, because it is not yet possible to get access to the Russian military.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian law enforcement officials have documented more than 300 cases of sexual violence by the Russian military against women, men and minors.
We remind you that a Russian serviceman was found guilty of violating the laws and customs of war that the court sentenced him to 11 years in prison. He repeatedly committed sexual acts against a resident of Kherson, threatening her and her son with violence.
