The damage caused to the environment is one of the greatest in financial terms, as it is a staggering amount of damaged and destroyed agricultural land, forest land, and polluted basins of our waterways.
Environmental crimes caused by Ukraine as a result of the war are estimated at trillions of hryvnias. The damage from fire, mined forests and destroyed areas is increasing every day. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svetlana Grinchuk spoke about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
Thus, as a result of the mass invasion of Russia, more than six thousand environmental crimes were recorded, while the damage caused was estimated at 2.6-2.7 trillion UAH.
“More than six thousand different cases were recorded according to estimates, it is somewhere around 2.6-2.7 trillion Hryvnia The damage caused to the environment is one of the biggest in terms of money, because it is a large amount of destroyed destroyed agricultural land, forest lands with environmental and industrial status, polluted water basins,” said Grinchuk.
Every day, fires are recorded in hundreds of hectares of forest. However, it is impossible to use traditional methods to kill them due to mining.
At the same time, the number of mined forests is estimated at 0.5 million hectares.
In addition, currently 20% of Ukraine’s protected areas are under occupation or in a war zone. The estimated damage to Ukraine’s natural reserve fund is about UAH 650 billion.
We reported that Russian troops invaded and almost destroyed the Askania-Nova nature reserve in the Kherson region. Conquerors export animals to Russia.
