Reservations for workers in Ukraine were suspended because President Vladimir Zelensky was outraged by the number of those receiving a deferment.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine until November 15 decided to suspend the criteria and regulations for identifying critical enterprises and organizations. This was reported on October 9 by Economic Truth and The Page, which received the government’s decision following the meeting.
The President was at a meeting. “I was indignant that 1.5 million people booked,” said one of the interlocutors.
The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers states that by November 15, an audit of decisions on the identification of critical enterprises and organizations should be conducted. The Ministry of Economy was instructed to analyze the results and inform the government by November 20.
Also, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economy must prepare and submit a draft decision to the government. There should be a procedure for checking the validity of the reservation of those liable for military service. Also, changes in the reservation procedure will provide for the abolition of deferments from conscription for military service if unfounded cases of reservation are identified.
Let us recall that in September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal said that the government plans to update the booking rules according to the “fight or work” principle. This approach will include several parameters related to critical enterprises, the defense industrial complex and shortage occupations. The absence of tax arrears and the salary level not lower than the industry average will also be taken into account.
