Customs officials have recorded violations of 17 billion since the beginning of the year

The customs value increased almost 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2023.

Ukrainian customs officials identified 7,259 violations of customs rules worth UAH 17 billion in January – September 2024. The press service of the State Customs Service reported this on Wednesday, October 9.

Thus, the cost indicator increased by almost 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2023.

In 2,273 cases of violation of customs rules, items of offenses worth UAH 430 million were temporarily seized. In particular:

  • industrial products worth UAH 304 million;

  • vehicles worth more than 68 million UAH;

  • food products worth more than 52 million UAH;

  • money in the amount of 6 million UAH.

It was noted that in 2,161 cases of violation of customs rules, especially those initiated in recent times, the customs applied an administrative penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of UAH 58.6 million, of which UAH 57.9 million was collected from the State Budget.

In this regard, 3,969 cases of violation of customs rules worth about UAH 16.6 billion were submitted to the court for consideration. Based on the results of consideration of cases by the courts, especially those initiated in previous periods, penalties amounting to UAH 1.9 billion were imposed.

Earlier, in the Volyn region, a group of people who organized the sale of smuggled goods were exposed. Residents of the Kovel region have been illegally importing electronic cigarettes with narcotic content and liquids for a long time.
