The Ukrainian Armed Forces received military assistance from Slovak citizens.
Six trucks containing 122 tons of ammunition arrived in Ukraine, for which the Slovaks collected money, despite the position of their authorities. This collection became the most successful in the history of Slovakia. More than 4 million euros were collected in three weeks. This was reported by the Noviny portal.
It is noted that 70 thousand citizens of Slovakia donated their money for shells for the Ukrainian defense forces. The gathering was announced after the Slovak government announced that it would not join the Czech initiative.
4 million euros of the funds raised have already been spent on ammunition. There is still 500 thousand euros left, which will be invested in a new contract for the purchase of grenades for grenade launchers.
We donated more per capita than Canada, Iceland or Slovenia,” said Fedor Blaschak, the initiator of the fundraiser.
Let us remind you that ammunition will be purchased in Ukraine using funds raised through the UNITED24 platform. The Defense Procurement Agency has already signed a contract worth UAH 47 million. This is the first contract since the government allowed the money collected on the platform to be used for defense procurement.
