Erdogan said that if Sweden and Finland “return to their promises” in the memorandum, their membership will be discussed again. “First of all, Sweden and Finland must fulfill their obligations, they are spelled out in the text … If this does not happen, then, of course, there is no option to refer the issue to parliament,” Erdogan stressed. .
Recall, on June 30, Erdogan announced the conditions for ratification of Sweden and Finland’s membership in NATO.
On June 28, in Madrid, Turkey agreed to support Sweden and Finland’s entry into NATO. Concrete steps were discussed in subsequent negotiations.
