The new plant plans to produce combat vehicles for the infantry, army, police, special forces and fire departments.
The first plant of the International Armored Group (IAG), which specializes in the production of armored vehicles, was inaugurated in the Bulgarian city of Burgas. BTA reported this on Tuesday, October 1.
The opening ceremony was attended by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and representatives of local authorities.
Radev noted that the launch of the plant emphasizes the importance of national capacities in the context of worsening global security.
“Modern wars clearly show how important it is to have our own production capabilities to ensure the reliability of defense products that require continuous maintenance and adaptation to current security needs,” he stressed.
IAG founder Anton Stefov said the new plant plans to produce a variety of combat vehicles for the infantry, army, police, special forces and fire departments.
Let’s add that in Bulgaria the government has approved the purchase of American-made Stryker combat vehicles to modernize the country’s ground forces and bring them up to NATO standards.
Let’s recall that it was previously reported that Latvia will build a plant for the production of artillery ammunition in the parish of Iecava, which, according to the plan, should be operational in 2026.
While the German defense concern Rheinmetall is investing 300 million euros in a new ammunition production plant.
