Cultural and educational institutions ravaged by the Russians needed fictional, educational, and historical literature.

During the military invasion, the Russians destroyed more than a thousand libraries on the territory of our country, and also destroyed two hundred million Ukrainian books. Language Ombudsman Taras Kremin announced this on Monday, September 30.

He emphasized that the Russians deliberately destroyed most of the printed books – they were smoked, thrown in the trash, or thrown into the water.

“Evidence of such barbarity exists,” the ombudsman said.

He noted that in destroying Ukrainian libraries and books, the Russians were guided by their own “cultural categories” inherent in the conquerors.

Kremin called on the residents of Ukraine to help the state restore the libraries.

“Cultural and educational institutions devastated by the Russians need fictional, educational and historical literature.

The occupiers plan to introduce a “legislative” ban on Ukrainian books in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

It was previously reported that the Russian Federation is creating a special textbook in the Ukrainian language for schools in the occupied territories, which will instill “traditional Russian values” in children.
