Hassan Nasrallah’s place can be taken by the chairman of the movement’s executive council and his cousin Hashem Safieddin.
The Shiite movement Hezbollah has officially confirmed the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah. This was announced by the organization’s press service on Telegram on Saturday, September 28.
They noted that 64-year-old Nasrallah died “like a great martyr.”
“His Highness Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, joined his companions, the great immortal martyrs, whose march he led for about thirty years, leading them from victory to to victory,” the statement said.
According to media reports, the head of the movement’s executive council and his cousin, Hashem Safieddin, may replace the leader of Hezbollah.
Earlier on Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike on September 27 in Beirut.
We remind you that yesterday a video of powerful attacks in Beirut was released. Some Israeli media reported that Nasrallah was killed as a result of the strike. Meanwhile, other sources close to Hezbollah said its leader appears to be alive.
As you know, the Israeli military this week began a large-scale operation to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Hezbollah fighters, for their part, continue to fire rockets into Israeli territory.
