Army General Christopher Cavoli confirmed Thursday night as U.S. and European allies are working to help Ukraine maintain Russia’s advance, and NATO intends to expand to include Sweden and Finland.
Cavoli, who currently commands U.S. Army forces on the continent, will replace Air Force General Tod Walters as head of the U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander.
He took over the reins of power as Russian forces gradually began to strengthen their positions in the eastern Donbas of Ukraine.
The four-star general speaks fluent Russian and received a master’s degree from Yale University in Russian studies. He served as director for Russia in the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Recall that NATO has approved a package of assistance to Ukraine, including accelerating the supply of non -lethal weapons, strengthening cyber defense and modernizing the defense industry.
