Ukrenergo published a video on its Facebook page showing how work is underway to install and prepare for switching on new autotransformers at substations in the southern region.
They are being installed to replace similar equipment destroyed as a result of Russian missile and drone attacks, the company notes.
Ukrenergo notes that the autotransformer is a key element in transporting electricity from generation facilities (power plants) to the network of distribution system operators (regional energy companies):
- its task is to adapt the voltage to transmission by networks of the appropriate class;
- such equipment is unique and expensive;
- It takes 6-12 months to manufacture one autotransformer, and it is usually made only for the customer and taking into account specific operating conditions, and not for free sale.
It is noted that in Ukraine, repair teams are setting records, replacing high-voltage equipment four to five times faster than their European colleagues.
- the average period of collection, installation and preparation for commissioning of an autotransformer at the facilities of the European transmission system network is three months; Ukrenergo specialists can do this in three weeks, including travel time;
- Every day, 1.5 thousand Ukrenergo employees, consisting of 40 repair teams, overcome the consequences of Russian attacks and prepare the Ukrainian energy system for winter;
- In the past year alone, as much transformer equipment has been replaced as is replaced in Poland in 10 years.
We have now accumulated vast experience in updating substation infrastructure, which no one else has. Our repairmen and engineers can conduct real master classes on the topic of prompt restoration of energy facilities,” the acting director emphasized. Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo Alexey Brecht.
