The Republican accused the Ukrainian ambassador of allegedly organizing a “guerrilla campaign” in a country where there is political strife and “he cannot be trusted.”
The Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson gave a statement to President Vladimir Zelensky, in which he demanded the immediate expulsion of the Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Oksana Markarova for allegedly interfering in the American elections . Johnson published a corresponding statement on his social network page. X.
The spokesman accused Markarova of organizing Zelensky’s visit to a plant in Pennsylvania where weapons for Ukraine are being produced. Zelensky was accompanied by representatives of the Democratic Party, but not a single Republican was invited. Johnson said Zelensky’s visit was “clearly an election campaign and clear election interference.”
“This short-sighted and deliberate political move has caused Republicans to lose confidence in Ambassador Markarova’s ability to serve fairly and effectively as a diplomat for this country. He must be removed from office immediately,” said Johnson in a statement.
In conclusion, the speaker said that support for ending the war in Ukraine will continue to be bipartisan, but this situation may “taint” them.
“These incidents must never happen again,” Johnson concluded.
