In Lviv region, fraudsters who developed a scheme to profit from those wishing to leave the country will be tried based on materials from the State Bureau of Investigations.
The State Bureau of Investigation has completed its investigation into the organizer and members of a criminal group that robbed men who were trying to get to Europe.
The defendants promised two “clients” to include them as volunteers in the “Put” system. They estimated the cost of this service at $15,000.
In fact, the criminals forged these documents and, knowing that the “clients” were planning to transport large amounts of cash across the border, decided to cash in on them again. On March 28, 2024, during a meeting in Lviv, the men were given fake certificates and told to get into a car that would take them to the border.
The driver, who was not aware of the criminal plans, was supposed to take the men to a certain place in one of the villages of the Yavoriv district. There, other accomplices, dressed in the uniform of TCC workers, were already waiting for them.
After checking the documents, the men were told that their certificates were forged. The TCC threatened to call in an investigative task force that would take them to the military registration and enlistment office, from where they would be sent to the combat zone. The fake TCC employees said that the men could avoid problems with the law if they paid $20,000.
After receiving the money, the defendants were detained by law enforcement officers.
