David Lemmy said from the rostrum of the UN Security Council that Putin is trying to “turn a mafia state into a mafia empire built on corruption, theft of Russian citizens, as well as Ukraine.”
Russia is trying to return humanity to the past – to a world of imperialism, forced changes of borders, a world without the UN Charter. This is what British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy said on Tuesday, September 24, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council, reports Ukrinform.
Addressing the “direct Kremlin and its representative” at the UN, Lemmy said that Russia sits on the Security Council, but its actions contradict the Charter of the United Nations.
He recalled that Moscow tried last week to amend the Future Pact, “which aims to destroy the future of the UN.”
According to the minister, Russia claims to speak on behalf of the Global South, but places itself above international law.
“Putin, when you fire rockets at Ukrainian hospitals, we know who you are,” said the British Foreign Secretary “When you send mercenaries to African countries, we know who you are When you kill oppositions in European cities, we know who you are.”
Lemmy stressed that the invasion of Ukraine only meets Putin’s personal interests – to “turn a mafia state into a mafia empire built on corruption, robbery of Russian citizens, as well as Ukraine … to suppress dissent … to lies. , the spread of disinformation.”
The minister clarified that he addresses the Russian leadership not only as a Londoner and head of the Foreign Ministry, but also as “a black man whose ancestors were brought in chains from Africa at gunpoint.”
“Russia is trying to return us to the world of the past, to the world of imperialism, to the world of violent border changes, to a world without the UN Charter,” he said, stressing that Ukraine’s struggle is “important for to all of us.”
Great Britain will remain a loyal supporter of Ukraine, added the head of the diplomatic department. According to him, if the imperialists are allowed to redraw the borders by force, it will be repeated in other parts of the world.
Lemmy emphasized that peace must be achieved by respecting the fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter. Putin’s Russia wants to destroy it, he said. And at the same time he quoted Zelensky’s words that “the UN Charter will prevail.”
The British Foreign Minister ended his speech with the words “Glory to Ukraine!”
Let’s recall that President Vladimir Zelensky, in his speech at the UN Razbez, said that he has evidence that the Russian Federation plans to strike three nuclear power plants.
