London called on the United States to give Ukraine the “green light” to strike targets on Russian territory.
The British Foreign Office has called on the United States of America to allow the Storm Shadow missiles to be launched against the Russian Federation’s rear. British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy told the Labour Party conference in Liverpool that now is the time to show courage. This was reported by The Guardian.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the allies are discussing with Ukraine the assistance that is needed to hold the front line in Donbass.
“As Foreign Secretary, I will of course not comment on the details of the operation, because that can only help Putin. But there is a real-time discussion between the allies about how we can support Ukraine ahead of winter,” Lemmy said.
The diplomat also suggested that the problems of the war in Ukraine will become deeper and more severe, especially in late 2025 and in 2026.
Let us recall that on September 15, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine had not yet received permission from the United States to strike deep into Russia, but Kyiv tried to convince Washington to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep into the aggressor country with American weapons.
Earlier, The Guardian reported, citing its own sources, that the United States of America and Great Britain had decided to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use Storm Shadow long-range missiles, but were not yet ready to announce this officially.
