The Russian Foreign Ministry accuses Ukraine and the international community of plotting to “give Russia an ultimatum of surrender.”
Russia will not participate in the second Peace Summit, which Ukraine intends to host, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
“Russian representatives did not participate in any meetings within the framework of the Bürgenstock process and do not intend to participate,” Zakharova’s response to the media was quoted in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
He, among other things, accused Ukraine and the international community of planning to “present Russia with an ultimatum of surrender.”
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that organizers of the next Global Peace Summit, scheduled for November 2024, intend to invite Russia. In addition, Zelensky announced a new meeting with US President Joe Biden in September to present a “victory plan” to end the war started by Russia. He also aims to present his approach to US Democratic and Republican presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
As Zelensky noted in an interview with CNN, Ukraine needs to be strengthened to improve its position in possible negotiations with the Russian Federation. “Diplomatic solutions are good when you are strong, otherwise Putin (…) will not be interested in stopping the war,” he said.
Zelensky said that his “success plan” deals with security, geopolitical space of Ukraine, very strong military support, as well as decisions on economic aid.
