The commander of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, which is holding the line in Donetsk region near Ugledar, Ivan Vynnyk, has been dismissed from his post. He will be appointed to the highest post.
The North operational command reported this on September 20.
There, Vinnik’s dismissal was explained by his promotion and the need to pass on combat experience. The soldier is described as an “experienced and humane” commander who “takes care of and respects his personnel.”
Under his leadership, the brigade went through a difficult path, but it held certain areas of defense with dignity. First there was Bakhmut, then Ugledar, where in January-February 2023 the brigade was able to repel one of the largest offensives during the Russian-Ukrainian war, – they said in OK and wished Vynnyk success in his future service.
Earlier, American analysts from the Institute for the Study of War noted the intensification of the Russian offensive on Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. According to their data, they managed to achieve certain tactical successes there. The occupiers are gradually advancing along several complementary lines of attack, trying to outflank Vuhledar.
