The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry explained that his proposal was made as part of a hypothetical discussion in off-the-record mode.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski commented on his proposal to transfer Crimea to a UN mandate, which caused anger in Ukraine. His words on Friday, September 20, were reported by the PAP.
“At the conference, a hypothetical discussion took place with experts off the record, where we considered how to implement President Zelensky’s own proposals on how to return Crimea,” Sikorsky told reporters.
At the same time, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry stressed that Warsaw supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, “there is no doubt about it and I emphasize it again and again.”
Let’s recall that Sikorsky said that Crimea plays a decisive role in the issue of possible peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Therefore, one of the options for solving the issue of the peninsula could be to transfer it under the mandate of the UN and hold a referendum there within 20 years. After that, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the territorial integrity of Ukraine has never been and cannot be the subject of discussion or compromise. Crimea is Ukraine. Dot.
