Germany transferred dozens of Leopard tanks to Ukraine

The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive tens of thousands of 155 mm artillery shells and 1 million rounds of ammunition for guns.

Germany has given a huge military aid package to Ukraine. These include Leopard 1A5 tanks, Gepard anti-aircraft guns, other combat and numerous 155mm artillery shells. The German government announced this on Thursday, September 19.

The military aid package includes:

• 22 Leopard 1 A5 tanks purchased with Denmark;

• 61 thousand 155-mm caliber shells;

• 5 tracked all-terrain vehicles Bandvagn 206 (BV206);

• all-terrain tracked transporter Warthog;

• 3 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns with spare parts;

• 2 TRML-4D air surveillance radars;

• 10 MG3 machine guns with 500 spare barrels and breech chamber;

• 1 million rounds of ammunition for firearms;

• 30 Vector UAVs and spare parts for them;

• 20 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance UAVs;

• 20 unmanned surface vehicles;

• 12 Songbird reconnaissance UAVs;

• 6 HornetXR drones;

• three BEAVER bridge-laying tanks with spare parts;

• armored engineering vehicle DACHS;

• 6 WISENT 1 mine clearing tank with spare parts;

• 16 ground-based radar surveillance stations;

• 2 AMPS self-protection systems for helicopters;

• 2 border security vehicles;

• 112 vehicles (trucks, minibuses, all-terrain vehicles);

• 8 Zetros tank trucks.

Earlier on Thursday, the media reported that Germany will immediately provide a package of weapons to Ukraine. The German Ministry of Finance estimates it at around 400 million euros. But the allocation of funds must still be approved by the Bundestag.

As you know, in 2024, Germany allocated about 8 billion euros for arms for Ukraine. But by 2025, the amount of military support for Kyiv from Berlin will be cut in half.
