Russian dictator Vladimir Putin ordered an increase in the number of personnel in the Russian army to 2 million 389 thousand people. This is confirmed by data on the official information website of the Russian Federation on Monday, September 16.
“To establish the level of staffing of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at 2,389,130 units, including 1,500,000 military personnel,” said the order, which will take effect on December 1, 2024.
Thus, the size of the Russian army will increase by another 180 thousand people.
The Government of the Russian Federation is ordered to provide the Russian Ministry of Defense with budget allocations from the federal budget necessary to implement this decision by Putin.
Let’s remember that the last time Putin increased the size of the Russian army was in December 2023. Then it increased by 170 thousand people.
As you know, since February 24, 2024, Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine. Since then, the Russian Federation has lost more than 630 thousand military personnel.
Earlier in July, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that there are up to 520 thousand Russian military personnel in Ukraine, and by the end of 2024 their number should reach 690 thousand.
