In the Limansky forest in the Donetsk region, the elimination of a large-scale fire that broke out as a result of enemy shelling continues for the second day. The press service of the State Emergency Service reported this on Monday, September 16.
“Yesterday night the enemy shelled the city of Liman, as a result of which the forest was on fire. Due to the strong wind, the fire spread to a depth of hundreds of meters,” the message said.
Personnel from the garrisons of Donetsk and Zaporozhye and forest workers were brought to the scene of the incident.
Pyrotechnic personnel check equipment routes and fire personnel approaches. With the help of UAVs, continuous monitoring of the situation is carried out, and firefighters are on duty near populated areas to prevent the spread of the fire.
As of 09:00, the fire covered approximately 240 hectares of forest. Fire fighting continues.
