In early September, Turkey officially submitted an application to join BRICS, and Azerbaijan and Thailand also announced their desire to join the bloc.
BRICS was founded in 2006 and then included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, after which its initials were named. In January 2024, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Ethiopia joined the organization. At the end of July, Malaysia submitted an application to join the organization.
