In the summer of 2025, the negative impact of the war on the Russian economy will be noticeable, and Russia’s status as a superpower will be under threat.

In 2025, Russia will begin to experience financial and economic problems and an army shortage. The Kremlin considers the summer or second half of 2025 or the beginning of 2026 to be the threshold of war. This was said on Saturday, September 14, at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov.

According to him, the economic recession in Russia is “painful and noticeable,” but they are struggling with its consequences.

“But it is far from the top that they predict that around the summer of 2025, the negative economic impact will begin to be very noticeable for their country,” said Budanov.

He noted that in the summer of 2025, the Russians will face an army shortage. The leadership of the aggressor state will face a dilemma: declare mobilization or reduce the intensity of the conflict, which may be critical for them.

Also, according to Budanov, it is very important for the Russians to complete active hostilities by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026.

“These are their calculations if they do not emerge as conditional winners, then in the near future, about 30 years, they will miss the opportunity to become a superpower that Russia can rely on “regional leadership, which is not suits him,” said Budanov, adding that the Russians will try to do everything to win.

Remind us that on Friday the Russian central bank raised the key rate for the second time in a year, trying to curb inflation.
